1.
Just before sundown that sad afternoon,
They placed
our dear Savior in His
borrowed tomb;
Afraid that
the people would steal
Him away,
The
soldiers stood guard as they
sealed up His grave.
2.
Early on Sunday with hearts filled
with gloom,
in love for
their Savior, they came
to the tomb;
But wonder
of wonders, just like
He foretold,
Long before
sunrise, the Savior
arose.
Chorus:
Long before sunrise, the
Savior arose!
Raised in
great power, defeating
His foes.
Back up to
the Father, triumphant
He goes,
Long before
sunrise, the Savior
arose.
3.
Jesus ascended, His glory restored,
He reigns
in great power, for Jesus
is Lord!
And soon He
is coming for His chosen
Bride,
And on that
great sunrise, the saints
shall arise!
CHORUS:
On that great sunrise, the
saints shall arise!
For we
shall see Him in clouds of
the sky!
Caught up
in glory to heaven on
high!
On that
great sunrise, the saints
shall arise!
